New Captain

O Captain! my Captain! WIDA has run its course,
As the final, silent trivia clue fades with slight remorse.
The task is done, we’ve had our fun, but other projects beckon;
The works we’ve scored, the battles warred, no man shall ever reckon.
                    But O heart! heart! heart!
                         For I hesitate to go—
                              As the scoring seascapes ahead of me
                                   Fill my heart with woe!

O Captain! my Captain! speak true to us once more;
Remind us of the bonuses and bounties which lie on distant shores.
Sixteen grueling weeks we’ve sought respite while the wind dishevels,
For we’ve raged against these choppy waters with their low pH levels.
                    Here Captain! dear Captain!
                         Lift up your weary brow!
                              Despite our ever-thinning crew,
                                   We’ve muddled through somehow.

My Captain has piloted thrice through poach and fracture;
The fog that lifts reveals with it your band still stands full stature.
The ship now anchor’d safe and sound, our voyage closed and done,
We’ve navigated preposterous storms to find our setting sun.
                    So bask in glorious ovations—
                         You have earned nothing less—
                              I bid thee farewell, my Captain—
                                   WIDA, Warrior Princess!
